Should I keep this blog going?

It certainly seems like most of my friends and family have abandoned their blogs, either because they prefer facebook or because email is easier and more personal (albeit time-consuming).

I was thinking about how infrequently I now post on this blog and in contrast, how frequently I engage with friends and family through facebook or Skype. Well, that plus email, LinkedIn, twitter, etc. So many options and now I'm at the point where I'm not sure they're all worth the effort.

So which do I eliminate in an effort to streamline? Facebook offers more interaction, yet the blog doesn't require login and is less 'busy'. It seems I'm not the only one asking themselves "blog or facebook?"

I was about to give up the blog when I read this great post from a fellow marketer (Indie Business) considering the same question. Good reasons to keep it going and perhaps dedicate a bit more time to the blog and perhaps less to facebook!

What about you?  Where do you choose to invest your communication energies?

  1. I would say keep the blog going - facebook can often be seen as a pastime for 'mouse-wives' and not much else. Blogging gives more control, and twitter feels more instant and accessible. I ditched my facebook years ago and don't miss it in the slightest!

  2. Good point! Thanks Nicola : )
